The brief: open the new living space to the garden

This rear extension created the opportunity for a much wider glazed opening. The specification needed to bring more daylight into the room and improve the view out, while remaining practical enough for regular family use.

The completed installation uses three large glazed panels in a dark aluminium frame. That layout keeps the elevation calm and makes the central sightlines feel deliberate rather than busy.

The door, floor and drainage were planned together

Large sliders work best when the surrounding construction is resolved before manufacture. Here, the frame position, internal floor build-up, external paving and channel drainage all had to meet accurately at the threshold.

The project photograph shows the benefit of that coordination: the track sits cleanly within the masonry opening and the drainage line follows the full width of the door.

A stronger garden connection without visual clutter

The finished opening gives the extension a simple architectural focal point. From inside, the glazing draws the eye through the room to the garden; from outside, the dark frame sits neatly within the brick elevation.
